Nourish Retreat Planning

August tends to be a busy month for everyone in the PNW. Sunny weather inspires us all to go out and travel, hike, and spend time relaxing outside. In August, I was busy traveling to Iowa for my niece’s wedding, visiting a dear college friend in Spokane and getting my daughter ready for the new school year. However, the most exciting thing I have been working on is planning my first yoga retreat! 14079499_10157394630020360_7900575291395224968_n

The ‘Who’

I have teamed up with the fabulous Teanna Gentry and Jenn Hepton to create a nourishing weekend escape for women. So, here is a little bit of information about them:

Teanna is a health and wellness guru from the Pacific Northwest who has a passion for helping people find freedom in movement. She was an all conference Track and Field athlete at Eastern Washington University from 2003-2007 and has since coached and trained athletes and clients of all ages in the greater Puget Sound area in running, yoga, speed/agility/quickness, and total wellness.

Teanna is a certified yoga instructor with over 300hrs of training in hatha, vinyasa, pre/post natal, mommy and me, thai massage, and baby/toddler yoga. She is also finishing up her BootyBarre instructor training and leads the BarreTwist classes at the studio. In her classes you can expect to laugh, have fun, and sweat to her upbeat music!

Jennifer teaches yoga classes and events all over the Pacific Northwest.  She is also the co-founder and owner of Humble & Grace. She was inspired to become a girl boss after her best friend in London started her own Wellness Cafe. She first started + shared Humble & Grace in London with her fellow yogis. It was a HIT. She is now sharing her conscious ethical  designs + inspirational statements in the PNW.

And, of course, there is me, Carrie Johnson! But, if you follow my blog, you already know all about me, so let’s move on…

The ‘What’

Now that we know who the players are, the next step is to decide what we can offer. How do we create an absolutely transformative weekend for the women who attend? Teanna, Jenn and I spent a lot of time brainstorming and researching so that we could manifest a powerful and meaningful agenda for everyone. And, I think we did it!

The ‘Where’14192561_10157444740870360_3435262189104026642_n

So, the next question we had to solve was where is the perfect place to hold our retreat? Since it will be a small, intimate retreat, we wanted a small intimate setting. So, we have chosen to hold the retreat at my picturesque home in the Three Tree Point neighborhood in Burien (if you are one of my neighbors, don’t freak out, we have a plan for parking and everything else so there will be no disruptions for you and you are of course, invited to join us đŸ™ŒđŸ»).

The ‘When’

We are holding the event on Friday, November 4th thru Sunday, November 6th, 2016. We envision that this will be the perfect time prior to the winter holidays for women to step away from their day to day life and replenish their minds and bodies.

The ‘Why’

Creating a 3 day retreat requires a lot of planning, organizing, marketing, selling, socializing, etc. Why go through all the trouble when we have no idea what the outcome will be? The truth is that I think it is just in our nature to want to create a beautiful event where other women can relax, heal, socialize and nourish their bodies. And, I think we just have optimism.  The hope that if we all work together we can create a strong, healthy community and, in turn, empower ourselves to be stronger and healthier too!
